This Arts Funders Affinity Group meeting will feature remarks by Nicholas Cohen, Executive Director of Maryland Citizens for the Arts and Steven Skerritt-Davis, Executive Director of the Maryland State Arts Council followed by Q&A and discussion providing members a chance to voice their concerns, share updates on their priorities, and discuss any shifts in funding allocations. We invite all funders who care about a strong, vibrant arts and culture sector to this opportunity to exchange perspectives about the arts landscape.
With more than 1,430 foundations in Maryland and a growing landscape of corporate funders, donor-advised funds, giving circles, and public charities, the first step to grant seeking is understanding the basic operations of organized giving.
This new report highlights ongoing initiatives to create jobs through economic inclusion in Baltimore. Through interviews, it documents best practices and finds that the strategies create benefits for individuals, businesses and institutions. The report calls for broader participation by businesses and institutions as well as people-focused investments and policies.

In 2011, Susan Purnell conceived of a philanthropic idea to amplify the lives of local women and girls by starting a fund and asking each member to donate $1,000.
Raising the public’s awareness of the role philanthropy plays — especially the work of our member foundations and corporate giving programs — to improve the quality of life in our region is a major goal of the Maryland Philanthropy Network.
Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for an expanded opportunity for all MPN members to convene in our State Capitol. Members will receive updates from state policy makers and sector leaders on the 2025 legislative session including key issues and priorities that affect Maryland communities as well as state budget impacts on philanthropy. An opportunity will be provided for affinity groups and collaboratives across the MPN network to delve deeper into policies specific to their issue areas with facilitated discuss with issue experts.
