A Deep Dive into the Maryland State Budget

A Deep Dive into the Maryland State Budget

Tuesday, February 13, 2018, 10:00 - 11:30 AM

Maryland’s state budget is a critical policy document that not only reflects our state's values, but also determines future economic opportunities and outcomes for all Marylanders. The decisions made in the creation of the budget can play an influential role on grantmaking priorities vis a vis the budget’s impact on critical community issues and grantee needs.

In partnership with Maryland Nonprofits and the Maryland Center on Economic Policy (MDCEP), members will explore 2018’s state budget with the support of MDCEP’s rigorous and balanced analysis with a focus on policies that foster broad prosperity at both the state and federal level and innovative solutions that address the needs of all state residents, particularly investments in education, infrastructure, and access to affordable health care.

Our speakers will be:

  • Benjamin Orr, Executive Director of the Maryland Center on Economic Policy; and
  • Henry Bogdan, Policy and Advocacy Director for Maryland Nonprofits.

Diane Bell-McKoy, President and CEO of Associated Black Charities will moderate the conversation with commentary!

This program continues Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Democracy and the Social Sector series of programs designed to stimulate conversations and action on democracy-strengthening activities at the local, state and federal level to promote effective philanthropy and build stronger communities.

This program is for Maryland Philanthropy Network and Maryland Nonprofits members only.
