Baltimore’s Promise, in partnership with the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, recently announced a package of 10 grants totaling roughly $525,000 through its Youth Grantmakers Initiative. The effort, which featured a group of 15 Baltimore-area youth and young adults between the ages of 16 and 25 in prominent design and decision-making roles, granted funds to 10 local organizations.

On November 13, Maryland Philanthropy Network convened more than 100 community leaders for deep conversation with Edgar Villanueva author of Decolonizing Wealth: Indigenous Wisdom to Heal Divides and Restore Balance. To continue this discussion, please join us for a peer conversation about the book, Decolonizing Wealth and reflect on Mr. Villanueva’s remarks. For this conversation, we’ll mostly focus on Part One of the book, “Where it Hurts” and the themes outlined within.
Join the leadership of Healing City Baltimore to learn about its mission, partners, and progress to date and future and to connect with other MPN members interested in trauma-responsive services and healing. To practice self-care and healing together, and as a gift to you from Healing City and MPN, we’ll spend the second half of our time in a mindfulness experience led by Ali Smith of the Holistic Life Foundation.
Please join us in person at the Maryland Philanthropy Network's office for a luncheon session with Dr. Shayna Cook from the Maryland State Department of Education. We will learn about the State's plans and Dr. Cook's vision for early learning in Maryland. There will be an opportunity to be in dialogue with her to learn how funders can be involved and to share the work of the PN5 Affinity Group. Participants will have time for informal networking over lunch.
The United Way of Central Maryland and the Horizon Foundation awarded four winners a total of $60,000 at the 2019 Changemaker Challenge event Tuesday at the Kossiakoff Center at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in Laurel.
