The Advocacy Recharge is an opportunity to learn what Maryland's nonprofit sector advocates accomplished in the 2023 Maryland General Assembly Session and join forces for the work ahead. As we shift into focus on the executive branch of the Moore/Miller Administration, we will look to highlight ways to ensure newly enacted laws get implemented fully and equitably, and discuss strategies for working with the executive branch on nonprofit priorities.

During this virtual convening, we will hear from and connect with government officials, including a keynote address from Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller, to hear their priorities and chart the road ahead. Nonprofit advocates will lead discussions on a wide range of issues impacting nonprofits and the diverse communities we serve. A panel discussion will highlight public policy gains and aims specifically affecting marginalized groups, including advancement for Black and brown communities, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities.

Maryland Philanthropy Network is pleased Kevin McHugh, Interim President and CEO, will provide opening remarks on behalf of the philanthropic sector, share information about the sector's partnership with Maryland Nonprofits in support to the nonprofit sector, and MPN's public policy related goals in the coming year. Liz Briscoe, Coordinator of the Affinity Group on Aging and Health Funders Affinity Group for Maryland Philanthropy Network, will also lead a breakout session titled, "Partnering on Aging for Maryland" in partnership with Jennifer Crawley, MSW, Director of Multisector Planning and Age Friendly Initiatives for the Maryland Department of Aging. The session will provide an overview of how the Maryland Department of Aging (MDA) is transforming its role to have a greater impact on the well-being of older people and their families in MD. Liz and Jennifer will discuss multi-sector planning for an Aging Friendly Maryland model and its implementation timeline.

Agenda and additional breakout session details coming soon!
