Statewide Perspectives on Community Schools: Part 3 – Practitioners

Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for the final session in our three-part series on community schools. Part III will focus on practitioners and the role they play in facilitating the implementation of Community Schools. We will be joined by the following community school leaders:

  • Danista Hunte, Executive Director, Child First Authority
  • Alexandria Warrick Adams, Executive Director, Elev8 Baltimore, Inc.
  • Samuel Rather and Amanda Richardson, Principal/Community School Coordinator team from Calvin Rodwell Elementary Middle School

Learning objectives for the three-part series will focus on the following:

  • Process: How does the coordinator, the principals and the lead agency work together?
  • Insights: How do school principals access community school coordinators? What are the barriers that prevent school principals from taking on community schools? What are the additional costs school principals bear once they have a community school? What resources do they need to secure community school coordinators? What are the experiences of community school coordinators?
  • Impact: How do community schools impact the community? What is the benefit to teachers and students?
  • The Role of Philanthropy: What is the opportunity for the funding community to support and advance the community schools model?
