A message to the Maryland Philanthropy Network membership from our President and CEO Danista E. Hunte.
Residents of the Greater Washington region are struggling to catch up and keep up financially. New data gives us a window into the lives of our region’s residents, and the precarity they face at a time we all hoped would be more prosperous.
To assist with informing the network and the collective discussion about the ongoing philanthropic response to recent federal policy decisions, Maryland Philanthropy Network will host regular virtual meetings in the coming months to bring the latest news and to create an information exchange opportunity for members. Join MPN staff and your philanthropic peers to share updates, nonprofit support strategies underway within the network, where you need support, and any questions for your peers in the context of the changing political environment.
With more than 1,430 foundations in Maryland and a growing landscape of corporate funders, donor-advised funds, giving circles, and public charities, the first step to grant seeking is understanding the basic operations of organized giving.
Please join us in person for a luncheon session with Sarah Neville-Morgan, Maryland's new Assistant State Superintendent for the Division of Early Childhood at the Maryland State Department of Education. Our time together will offer an opportunity to be in dialogue about her vision, plans and priorities and to learn how funders can be involved. Participants will have time for informal networking over lunch.
Join Maryland Philanthropy Network and Maryland Nonprofits for a joint member convening to learn about federal policy impacts on nonprofits and perspectives around the philanthropic response. Grounded in a spirit of solidarity, this convening will feature a presentation by Candid researcher Anna Koob who will share important new research on nonprofits’ financial resiliency and foundation funding trends in recent years for Maryland as well as across the nation.
