POSTPONED: Grantmakers for Education: A View From the Classroom

Thursday, March 26, 2020, 9:00 - 10:30 AM

Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to postpone this program. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Please see our Statement on COVID-19 for details about how we are approaching this unfolding health crisis.

Maryland Philanthropy Network is pleased to host Celine Coggins, Executive Director of Grantmakers for Education, for a review of A View from the Classroom: What Teachers Can Tell Philanthropy About the Needs of Schools. This report digs into the data from 1.8 million teacher requests on the crowdfunding site: DonorsChoose to tell the story from inside today’s classrooms. The report examines:

  • What are the needs that teachers identify and how have they changed over time?
  • How do requests and funding patterns differ in high- and low-poverty contexts?
  • Where is there alignment between trends in teacher requests and trends in funder priorities? Where is there not?

The review of the report will be followed by a roundtable discussion.
