Michael Bigley is the Director of the Venable Foundation, one of the largest law firm foundations in the country. A key aspect of his work has been to increase public awareness of Venable’s funding opportunities and diversify the grantee docket. The Commission is to review and assess current education financing formulas and accountability measures and how each local school system spends its funds, including the increased State funds provided through the Bridge to Excellence in Public Schools Act. Moreover, the Commission will review the Study on Adequacy of Funding for Education in the State of Maryland, required by the Bridge to Excellence in Public Schools Act. Come hear directly from local and statewide organizations to learn about their work focused on the Kirwan Commission and other legislation focused on local, education-related issues.
