A new law requiring electronic filing of the Form 990 goes into effect this year, and thousands of nonprofit organizations will be e-filing for the first time. The Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative recently signed onto a national statement on good jobs. The broadly shared, widely endorsed definition of what constitutes a good job was released by the Good Jobs Champions Group, convened by the Families and Workers Fund and the Aspen Institute Economic Opportunities Program, in October 2022. Signed by over 100 leaders from business, labor, policy, philanthropy, academia, and workforce development it represents a historic step forward toward a future in which all work is valued; no one working full-time lives in or near poverty; companies and workers thrive alongside each other; and diverse talent is never overlooked.

Maryland Philanthropy Network has joined Maryland Nonprofits and our colleagues across Maryland in responding to a call for ideas from the State for how the budget surplus should be allocated. MPN was part of a group of 170 practitioners and partners that came together to create a joint appeal the result of which is this letter to the Governor. Together, we urge the State to dedicate $1 billion of the projected budget surplus for targeted relief, and that $500 million of this commitment should continue in future budgets to assure sustainability and for more equitable disbursement of state resources in partnership with the social purpose sector.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the individuals and families impacted by the June 12 mass shooting in Orlando. In the early morning hours of June 12, a gunman opened fire at a gay nightclub in Orlando, leaving 49 people dead and more than 50 injured. Our hearts are with Florida, the LGBTQ community and the many families and friends now striving to come to terms with this senseless act of terror and tragic loss of innocent lives.
As we do during times of disaster, Maryland Philanthropy Network will serve as a clearinghouse for resources and information about support efforts. Our...

The Funders Together to End Homelessness Baltimore at Maryland Philanthropy Network is pleased to launch its 2024-2026 Strategic Direction. FTEHB’s robust three-year plan outlines specific actions this funder network will carry out.
