Reopening Baltimore City Public Schools: Immediate Needs and Recovery

Reopening Baltimore City Public Schools: Immediate Needs and Recovery

Friday, February 12, 2021, 2:00 - 3:30 PM

In November, Maryland Philanthropy Network members met with Chief Tina Hike-Hubbard, Cleo Hirsch, and Dr. Sarah Warren to discuss how to support Baltimore City Public Schools’ reopening plan. Updates around in-person learning, health protocols and enrollment demonstrated the complexity of decision-making around reopening. As we move into 2021, the District is moving forward with reopening schools and will be working in partnership with Johns Hopkins Medicine to immediately begin vaccinating 500 teachers and staff each week. How is the digital strategy unfolding? What supports do teachers have? What will learning look like for students who are also working? How can this group help create space for the District to innovate?

Join the conversation with Tina Hike-Hubbard, Chief of Communications, Engagement and Enrollment, and bring your questions as well as your ideas about how to best support the District in this next phase. Tina will speak to City Schools’ current funding needs as well as their long-term recovery efforts. Following the discussion with Tina, MPN members will have a members-only space to reflect and share thoughts with one another.

This program is for Maryland Philanthropy Network members and invited guests only.
