Fund Mapping: Are We Investing in What Young People Want?

Fund Mapping: Are We Investing in What Young People Want?

Monday, January 23, 2023, 1:00 - 3:00 PM

Fund mapping is a process of gathering information on investments from multiple public and private funders to help leaders better understand areas of alignment, areas of duplication, and gaps in investments. The information provided through fund mapping can help foundation and public agency leaders to understand the landscape of funding and make investments that are more coordinated and effective in addressing gaps in services.

All Maryland Philanthropy Network members are invited to join Julia Baez and Bridget Blount of Baltimore’s Promise, Talib Horne, Ilene Berman, and Mildred Johnson of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and Margaret Flynn-Khan of Mainspring Consulting to hear about and discuss plans to map funds supporting services for youth in the age range of 14-24 in Baltimore, with a focus on analyzing how investments align to priorities set by young people through the Youth Grantmaking Initiative. Participants in this event will hear about and discuss:

  • What fund mapping is and how it can support more coordinated and effective investments in priorities articulated by young people
  • How fund mapping can build on existing efforts of Baltimore’s Promise to map services and invest resources according to the priorities of young people
  • Maryland Philanthropy Network members thoughts on how fund mapping could inform their work and what they would be most interested in learning from fund mapping
  • How funders can contribute data to this effort

This program is hosted by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the  Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Foundation for Maryland Philanthropy Network members and invited guests only.
