The state of Maryland has recognized the potential for registered apprenticeships both to provide a path to better-paying careers that do not require college degrees and to help employers meet their needs for employees with specialized skills. In this latest Abell Foundation report, Linda Dworak of Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative offers an overview of apprenticeship and the current landscape in Maryland and Baltimore.
On June 6, Baltimore City announced a month-long request for proposal (RFP) period for the first round of disbursements from the $12 million Baltimore Children and Youth Fund. Attendees will learn more about the priority investment areas, grant review process, and public engagement throughout the process from members of the planning team representing Frontline Solutions, UPD Consulting and Associated Black Charities.
Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for a virtual conversation to learn about the recovery effort over the past two months including an update from the Governor's Office and on the philanthropic response from the three established funds - Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Key Bridge Fund at the Baltimore Community Foundation, the City of Baltimore’s Key Bridge Emergency Response Fund, and the Bridging the Gap Fund of United Way of Central Maryland. We will also have a data presentation from the Baltimore Metropolitan Council on the regional impact of the Key Bridge collapse and the effects on jobs, transportation, and environmental justice.
