Both locally and across the country intentional collaborations among funders increase the impact of philanthropy by connecting the knowledge and expertise of diverse funders with a wide range of funding interests.
Baltimore’s work inspired by the national Campaign for Grade-Level Reading has begun!
On June 6, Baltimore City announced a month-long request for proposal (RFP) period for the first round of disbursements from the $12 million Baltimore Children and Youth Fund. Attendees will learn more about the priority investment areas, grant review process, and public engagement throughout the process from members of the planning team representing Frontline Solutions, UPD Consulting and Associated Black Charities.
Construction on 21st Century School Buildings is well underway with two completed schools, Fort Worthington Elementary/Middle School and Frederick Elementary School, and seven more currently in process. The Maryland Philanthropy Network team of consultant and member leaders will share an update on these efforts, future plans and opportunities as we enter 2018.

Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative (BWFC) meets each month. The Collaborative is a group of private and public funders committed to advancing equity, job quality and systems change efforts that lead to family-sustaining wages, strengthened communities and a vibrant local economy. BWFC members actively fund workforce development, are willing to co-invest, are committed to tracking outcomes and sharing investment data, and work together to improve workforce systems.
