Principals or deputies of our member organizations are invited to participate in this upcoming Governor's Roundtable. The purpose is to convene leaders in philanthropy who are actively supporting efforts to reduce child poverty to learn about their work and get recommendations for the state. The Governor's Office is also excited to share how the state is tackling this priority and explore opportunities for collaboration to deepen our collective impact in Maryland communities.

60 years after Brown vs the Board of Education, American public schools are more segregated today than in 1968. In the state of Maryland, 9 out of every 10 black Maryland students and 8 out of every 10 Latino students attends a majority-minority school. 1 of every 4 black Maryland students attends a school that is 99-100% minority. Segregating poor, minority children in high poverty schools increases educational inequities.

The Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative is working with Byte Back, Pass IT On, and the Baltimore Digital Equity Coalition to identify a trainer(s) who will develop and facilitate a trauma-informed care training for up to 15 workforce development nonprofit professionals. The goal of the training will be to increase the capacity of direct service agencies by applying trauma-specific strategies to their normal service deliveries, improving the services provided to clients who have experienced trauma, and advance digital equity.
In the last week of July 2010, torrential rains caused devastating floods in large parts of Pakistan. The floods have affected more than 20 million people (more than 10 per cent of the total population). Devastating communities throughout the country, in an area of at least 160,000 square kilometres — larger than England — the floods killed more than 1,700 people, and damaged or destroyed nearly 1.9 million homes.*
