Maryland Philanthropy Network is requesting proposals from vendors to execute the design phase of a comprehensive Drupal website rebuild. MPN's website is a multi-purpose digital hub for numerous stakeholders including grantmaking organizations and philanthropic leaders, policymakers, nonprofit organizations, and other community members and interested users. This hands-on workshop introduces the topic youth philanthropy (0-18 years) and the concept that youth have the ability to share their time, talents, and treasures for the common good. On June 6, Baltimore City announced a month-long request for proposal (RFP) period for the first round of disbursements from the $12 million Baltimore Children and Youth Fund. This report explores food procurement processes in state and private higher educational institutions in Baltimore and identifies a range of strategies to more fully realize local purchasing power. The report recommends actions to support local minority business enterprises and small businesses, modifications to procurement processes, and outlines legislative opportunities to connect state agency and institutional purchasing power to businesses in targeted reinvestment areas. Many of the recommendations are applicable not just to food but other services and commodities as well.
