Young people in Baltimore desire rewarding careers that create opportunities for their families and communities.
The Prenatal-to-Five (PN-5) Affinity Group was created to help funders who are interested in supporting expectant parents, and children from birth through age five and their families improve their grantmaking by learning more about initiatives, educational research, and best practices. More details about the agenda and speakers will be available soon!

Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to postpone this program. We apologize for any inconvenience.
The Affinity Group on Aging invites you to a program focusing on the critical determinant of health; the lack of affordable, accessible transportation for older adults. As Baltimore City residents age, they often lose their capacity to drive which negatively impacts their independence and quality of life contributing to ill health due to social isolation and loneliness.
Join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Education Funders Affinity Group for a two-part series on tutoring programs. The first discussion will take place with three of Baltimore’s largest tutoring providers focused on literacy. We'll be joined by Lindsay Sullivan, Amplify; Rudi Zellman, The Literacy Lab; and Jeffrey Zwillenberg, Reading Partners. Come learn about what is happening with literacy tutoring programs, what those programs looked like before the pandemic and going forward, possibilities around what’s needed to scale those programs, and ways that philanthropy can help.
Join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Education Funders Affinity Group for a two-part series on tutoring programs. For our second discussion, our speakers Joshua Michael from University of Maryland Baltimore County's Sherman Scholars Program and Maryellen Leneghan and Alan Safran from Saga Education will introduce us to their mathematics tutoring programs. Come learn about what we know about effective math tutoring practices, programmatic models for two leaders in mathematic tutoring, and ways philanthropy can help to expand tutoring supports in Baltimore.
Please join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Health Affinity Group for a hybrid program on reproductive justice efforts in Maryland. This session will explore the current national reproductive health landscape and the impact on Maryland, including the identified unmet needs and the 2022/23 legislation passed to protect and expand access to abortion care in Maryland. We’ll discuss organizing efforts around the Right to Reproductive Freedom constitutional amendment on the ballot in November 2024.
Please join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Health Funders Affinity Group and Dr. Judy Monroe, President and CEO of the CDC Foundation, for an engaging conversation on the support needed for the launch of the Maryland Commission on Public Health. The Commission was newly created in June 2023 by the Maryland General Assembly, inspired by Dr. Monroe’s public health work in Indiana, Health First Indiana.
Please join Maryland Philanthropy Network's Health Funders Affinity Group for a debrief and information session on health issues in this year’s legislative session. Ashley Woolard, Attorney with the Public Justice Center, Vincent DeMarco, President of the Health Care for All! Coalition, and Dan Martin and Linda Raines with the Mental Health Association of MD (MHAMD) will share the outcomes of their advocacy work, overcoming the budget constraints, and what to prepare for next year’s session.
The board and staff of MPN have begun their strategic work to define our path forward and to determine our core pillars of work.
