Please join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Health Affinity Group for a hybrid program on reproductive justice efforts in Maryland. This session will explore the current national reproductive health landscape and the impact on Maryland, including the identified unmet needs and the 2022/23 legislation passed to protect and expand access to abortion care in Maryland. We’ll discuss organizing efforts around the Right to Reproductive Freedom constitutional amendment on the ballot in November 2024.

Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for a conversation with Shamiah Kerney, Chief Recovery Officer for the Mayor’s Office of Recovery Programs. Ms. Kerney will share updates on successes to date, the anticipated transition away from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, and the timeline for potential alignment between city government and philanthropy to continue resources for communities. This will be an opportunity to learn about the tools and resources available to help you stay abreast of ARPA Impact Indicators, recovery reports and resources, and the recovery data dashboard that pulls all the pieces together.
This workshop will help participants get specific about the types of grantmaking practices that support – or hinder – equity. During this session, we’ll work through a design-thinking exercise to help us answer the question: “If we were to design the grantmaking process to support grantseekers and grantees and contribute to a more just and equitable world, what would that look like?” If you are a grantmaker that has embraced the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, this workshop is for you.
This weekend’s misinformed, racist tirades made it clear that Donald Trump doesn’t consider Baltimore part of his America. The Baltimore President Trump sees is a racist caricature of urban blight.
Over the past six years, Baltimore has endured one of America’s deadliest drug epidemics. Black men in their mid-50s to early 70s are experiencing fatal overdoes at a significantly higher rate than any other group. While just 7 percent of Baltimore City’s population, they account for nearly 30 percent of drug fatalities – a death rate 20 times that of the rest of the country. Black men of that age in Baltimore city are more likely to die of substance overdose than from cancer or even Covid-19 at the height of the pandemic. Join Maryland Philanthropy Network to collaborate with colleagues to learn about harm reduction programs, challenges in implementation, and intervention methods to prevent fatal outcomes.

The $2 million philanthropic capital aims to strengthen high-quality training programs and build effective public-private partnerships, helping Baltimoreans secure well-paid jobs in the growing energy and infrastructure sectors while leveraging JPMorganChase’s growing presence in the region to convene stakeholders and drive economic growth for all.
