Please join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Maryland Aging Innovations Group for the 2023 Summit to encourage Maryland’s commitment to develop a multisector plan for aging that will engage and impact all Maryland residents. Along with sharing the local ‘age-friendly’ framework urban and rural Area Agencies on Aging are implementing; participants will hear about New York’s innovative efforts in creating a state-wide resource that transforms the infrastructure and coordination of services for a rapidly aging population and people with disabilities. We’ll end with inspirational Creative Arts Projects for older adults!

By the end of 2017, Baltimore suffered 343 homicides, a new record for killings per capita. This continues a troubling trajectory; overall violent crime between 2012 to 2017 is up 9.8 percent. Most categories of violent crime either increased or stayed about the same, with the biggest percentage growths in homicides, shootings and robberies. Join expert researchers to learn about violence as a health crisis and research-based best practices around reducing violence. We’ll also discuss how these practices are (or could be) implemented in Baltimore.

Please join Maryland Philanthropy Network, in partnership with the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, for an exciting day of learning and networking with fellow philanthropic leaders. The day will begin with an excursion through a portion of the Underground Railroad, including a tour of the Harriet Tubman Museum. Baltimore City Public Schools are back in session Aug. 29. Across the city, students are getting ready for a new year at their neighborhood school, a charter school, a specialized high school or a transformation school.
This year, Baltimore City Public Schools faced a $130 million structural budget gap for School Year 17-18. The gap was predicted to grow by about $30 million each year unless addressed.
