The Prenatal to Five Impact Collaborative is a peer group focused on learning together about the needs of pregnant women and families with children up to age 5 and how to best support them. This meeting will discuss advocacy and the roles philanthropy can play in systems change work. We’ll be hearing from Sara Watson who authored the Bainum Family Foundation Brief: “Creating Change Through Policy Advocacy”. We’ll also be hearing from Beth Morrow and Laura Weeldreyer about Maryland Family Network’s Early Childhood legislative priorities.
In January, the Prenatal to Five Impact Collaborative will be getting a 2022 Legislative Session Preview from Maryland Family Network; have a discussion with PN-5 member, Meredith Callanan, about the Early Years Leadership Diversity Initiative's research report, entitled Diversify Early Childhood Leadership: It’s Time to Remove the Barriers Holding Us Back; and Cathy Costa, from the Maternal and Child Health Division of the Baltimore City Health Department, will provide an update on Baltimore City’s Pritzker grant.

The Collaborative is a group of private and public funders committed to advancing equity, job quality and systems change efforts that lead to family-sustaining wages, strengthened communities and a vibrant local economy. BWFC members actively fund workforce development, are willing to co-invest, are committed to tracking outcomes and sharing investment data, and work together to improve workforce systems.

Join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Education Funders Affinity Group for a conversation about the Comprehensive Implementation Plan for the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future. We will explore questions around the implications of the plan for Maryland schools and ways the philanthropic community can be supportive. Members will hear from Rachel Hise, executive director of the Blueprint Accountability Implementation Board, who has extensive knowledge around plans related to the 5 pillars that undergird the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future. The Climate Solutions Now Act and other new climate statutes, regulations, and programs will have profound impacts on philanthropic programs.
