Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for a peer learning exchange for arts and culture funders! In the past year we’ve learned about the Financial Impact of COVID on the Arts in Maryland, Supporting Leaders of Color in the Arts and Creative Economy in Maryland, and Arts Grantmakers’ Changes in Practice and Sharing Session. We’ll now take some time to integrate our learnings, share what we are thinking about and focusing on, and discuss our plans for the coming year.

In the wake of the U.S. withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, the collapse of the Afghan government, and the Taliban’s takeover, many Afghans are fleeing for their lives. While up-to-date figures are unavailable due to the intense conflict, more than 1 million Afghans remain displaced from their homes due to ongoing violence and frequent natural disasters. We are grateful for our colleagues at Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR) who have compiled a list of actions to support philanthropic response. Maryland Philanthropy Network will continue to post ways in which philanthropy may respond to all that is happening in the world and we urge foundations and individual philanthropists to look into the future of how all of this will change Maryland and what your role may be to relieve suffering and build for our future.

Danista E. Hunte Named President and CEO of Maryland Philanthropy Network

The Board of Directors of Maryland Philanthropy Network is pleased to announce the appointment of Danista E. Hunte as its next President and CEO, effective October 11, 2023. Danista brings with her a wealth of experience spanning over three decades in the philanthropic and non-profit sector. She most recently served as the Executive Director of Child First Authority in Baltimore and prior to that was Vice President of Community Investment for the Baltimore Community Foundation.
