On August 14, 2021, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti. Hundreds have been deeply affected and thousands are injured while others will be left homeless or jobless. It can be tricky to determine how to sift through the information to prioritize philanthropic action. Our colleagues at Hispanics in Philanthropy and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy have both compiled lists of trusted resources to help philanthropy bring attention and aid to affected communities. We encourage you to review these resources and share your generosity by making donations to affected residents of the island.
Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for a peer learning exchange for funders supporting environmental and sustainability issues in Maryland! We take some time to integrate our learnings, share what we are thinking about and focusing on, and discuss our plans for the coming year. Lightly structured, these peer-to-peer exchange events are designed to integrate and learn from others in philanthropy through facilitation of the following: strategy sharing and exchange of ideas around what other funders are working on, stimulating new ways of thinking by sharing learnings and creating an environment conducive to discovery among the community of funders, and relationship building.
Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for an expanded opportunity for all MPN members to convene in our State Capitol. Members will receive updates from state policy makers and sector leaders on the 2025 legislative session including key issues and priorities that affect Maryland communities as well as state budget impacts on philanthropy. An opportunity will be provided for affinity groups and collaboratives across the MPN network to delve deeper into policies specific to their issue areas with facilitated discuss with issue experts.
