Addressing Learning Loss During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Summer Programming and Tutoring

Wednesday, March 03, 2021, 2:00 - 3:30 PM

Maryland Philanthropy Network is pleased to host Dr. Robert Slavin, Director of the Center for Research and Reform in Education at Johns Hopkins School of Education, Stephanie Safran, Consultant with MDRC, and Jasmyne Gilbert, Senior Manager of Operations and Special Projects for Baltimore’s Promise, for a conversation highlighting how summer programming and tutoring are addressing learning loss during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The session will begin with a high-level overview of summer funding applications and decisions from Jasmyne Gilbert and then move into a presentation on Abell’s recent tutoring report. How much funding will be granted through the Summer Funding Collaborative? How do we take the best aspects of what we know in tutoring and shift it to the classroom? Who are the major players in the tutoring landscape and how do we expand the scope looking forward? For a space to dig deeper into questions like these, any members who are interested in the health and well-being of Baltimore City’s students are welcome to join this program!

This program is for Maryland Philanthropy Network members and invited guests only.
