This report represents the latest in an effort by Philanthropy-Serving Organizations (PSOs) to advance philanthropic practice and impact by centering racial equity.
Maryland Philanthropy Network is committed to fulfilling its mission by embracing diversity and inclusion and focusing on racial equity in its governance and programs. The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee (EDI) meets quarterly to infuse Maryland Philanthropy Network's values of diversity, inclusiveness, and respect in our work.
Maryland Philanthropy Network is pleased to host our annual training for funders, Advancing Racial Equity in Grantmaking, in partnership with ABFE: A Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities. This year we offer a highly interactive virtual equivalent of the typical on-site day-long racial equity training. This introductory training, derived from the Race Matters Toolkit, presents a valuable framework that has guided and informed Maryland Philanthropy Network’s work since it was first offered to our Board, Staff and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee in April 2013. ABFE’s racial equity training is centered on the drivers of poor and disparate outcomes in Black communities and other communities of color, as well as support and tools for leading community change efforts particularly in places where there has been a long history of racial inequity.
By expanding support to arts and cultural organizations in diverse neighborhoods, funders can provide a missing ingredient in the effort to advance equity.
How can we build a better and more equitable health care system? Join the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Health Funders and Public Policy Committee, and leading advocates working to advance health equity in Maryland as we discuss state and local initiatives to expand health care coverage, improve health care quality, address disparities in health outcomes, and make prescription drugs more affordable.
Join this interactive, open presentation about the terms, ideas, and findings behind “intersectional” approaches that reconnect race, class, and gender to improve life outcomes for at-risk youth. Toolkits and leave-behinds provided.
