Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for a funder debrief conversation about the Historic Plan to Address Vacant Properties in Baltimore Neighborhoods. An initial briefing was held on September 23, 2024 and a follow up conversation was held on December 6, 2024. Funders will work together to determine ways they would like to be part of the Vacants/Reinvest Baltimore work in an ongoing way, the structure for their participation, and how they would like to be supported going forward.

Anchor institutions in Baltimore are working to strengthen minority and local purchasing to create jobs and local economic opportunities. To improve internal policies and practices, Next Street, U3 Advisors, and ML Whelley, LLC are completing reports assessing the budgetary, policy, infrastructure, and planning processes at five Baltimore anchor institutions. Baltimore’s Promise, in partnership with the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, recently announced a package of 10 grants totaling roughly $525,000 through its Youth Grantmakers Initiative. The effort, which featured a group of 15 Baltimore-area youth and young adults between the ages of 16 and 25 in prominent design and decision-making roles, granted funds to 10 local organizations.
