Join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Education Funders Affinity Group for a two-part series on tutoring programs. For our second discussion, our speakers Joshua Michael from University of Maryland Baltimore County's Sherman Scholars Program and Maryellen Leneghan and Alan Safran from Saga Education will introduce us to their mathematics tutoring programs. Come learn about what we know about effective math tutoring practices, programmatic models for two leaders in mathematic tutoring, and ways philanthropy can help to expand tutoring supports in Baltimore.

The Employment Situation — September 2021

ARPA Update with the City of Baltimore

Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for a virtual conversation to learn about the recovery effort over the past two months including an update from the Governor's Office and on the philanthropic response from the three established funds - Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Key Bridge Fund at the Baltimore Community Foundation, the City of Baltimore’s Key Bridge Emergency Response Fund, and the Bridging the Gap Fund of United Way of Central Maryland. We will also have a data presentation from the Baltimore Metropolitan Council on the regional impact of the Key Bridge collapse and the effects on jobs, transportation, and environmental justice.

Open Letter to Governor Hogan, Executive and Legislative Leaders Regarding State Budget Surplus

Maryland Philanthropy Network has joined Maryland Nonprofits and our colleagues across Maryland in responding to a call for ideas from the State for how the budget surplus should be allocated. MPN was part of a group of 170 practitioners and partners that came together to create a joint appeal the result of which is this letter to the Governor. Together, we urge the State to dedicate $1 billion of the projected budget surplus for targeted relief, and that $500 million of this commitment should continue in future budgets to assure sustainability and for more equitable disbursement of state resources in partnership with the social purpose sector.

Focus on City Schools: Update on the 2024 Blueprint Implementation Plan

On May 1, 2024, Baltimore City Public Schools will submit their full local implementation plan for the Kirwan Blueprint for Maryland Future to both the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and the Accountability and Implementation Board (AIB). Join us as Sandi Jacobs, Executive Director, Strategic Resourcing & Financial Management and Blueprint Implementation Coordinator for Baltimore City Public Schools provides an overview of City Schools’ 2024 Blueprint Implementation Plan, its budget implications, and the implementation challenges ahead.
