Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for an uplifting Seniors & Housing Collaborative gathering, RECONNECTING with a Focus on Advocacy!
The Seniors and Housing Collaborative (S & HC) convenes stakeholders to develop strategies and invest resources to advance equity and systems change to impact older adults and people with disabilities’ well-being in the greater Baltimore region with a focus on housing.
This peer group is focused on best practices and emerging opportunities in the field of health, including behavioral health. Group meetings provide opportunities for funders to learn about key issues including government policy impacts, share grantmaking priorities, explore shared interests with other stakeholders including policymakers/public agency staff, and engage in aligned or collaborative grantmaking.
The Maryland Aging Innovations Group of Maryland Philanthropy Network (MPN) facilitates its members’ in-depth exploration of issues and impact on targeted community concerns in the field of aging. This group engages MPN members and non-profit and community leaders across multiple sectors working together to improve the quality of life for older adults in Maryland.

Join us for a briefing on the tightening eligibility requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the impact of these changes on Marylanders as well as the response from advocates, providers, and state/local government.
The Baltimore Sun reports that the Maryland Transit Administration has “proposed to slash its bus service in the Baltimore region next year by 20% — eliminating 25 bus lines and reducing service on 12 others — due to falling fare revenue and reduced funding from other sources caused by the coronavirus pandemic.” Join us for a conversation with advocates about the cuts and possible alternatives, and to get an update on the advocacy work that is underway.
The aged homeless population is growing rapidly and will continue to grow for the next decade. Please Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Baltimore Seniors & Housing Collaborative for a discussion on forecasts of the aged homeless population; projected costs associated with the use of shelter, health care, and long-term care by this aged homeless population; proposed housing and service intervention models matched to the varying level of housing and services needs of these subgroups; and potential service cost reductions associated with housing interventions.
As many grassroots groups have pointed out over decades, philanthropy, as an institution, is complicit in anti-Blackness. As funders, we can begin to remedy philanthropy’s unjust practices, policies, and outcomes through our explicit and intentional actions. Abundance is a movement in philanthropy to change practice, policy, mindsets, and ways of being to support Black people and communities. Join the session to hear how funders are taking action towards Abundance, and learn how you can be a part of the movement.
