Developers of the Port Covington waterfront community in South Baltimore have distributed $2.5 million in grants and other funds to help revitalize neighborhoods near the site where offices, shops and apartments are under construction.
Maryland Philanthropy Network is pleased to host Dr. Karen Salmon, State Superintendent of Schools, for a briefing about philanthropy’s role moving forward followed by discussion. Dr. Salmon will address questions such as the availability of state funding to address the digital divide, contingency plans should the pandemic return full force in the next school year and how MSDE is thinking about the community schools strategy in reconstruction and redesign.

Baltimore’s Promise, in partnership with the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, recently announced a package of 10 grants totaling roughly $525,000 through its Youth Grantmakers Initiative. The effort, which featured a group of 15 Baltimore-area youth and young adults between the ages of 16 and 25 in prominent design and decision-making roles, granted funds to 10 local organizations.
