Imagine Montgomery, Alabama at the height of the civil rights movement – a place where one man’s barbershop became a gathering place for Martin Luther King, Jr.
Grantmakers commonly invest time developing and strengthening relationships with their grantees and community-based partners in their fields of interest.
Maryland Philanthropy Network welcomes 2017 Annual Meeting Speaker, Paul Schmitz back to Baltimore for an interactive workshop to help funders explore how community engagement can advance their and their grantees' results.
Building off of a successful first round of work and through support from Living Cities, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and the Goldseker Foundation, the Baltimore Integration Partnership (BIP) launched 2.0 in 2014 to deepen anchor institution’s efforts to support area residents, businesses and communities.
This workshop will help participants get specific about the types of grantmaking practices that support – or hinder – equity. During this session, we’ll work through a design-thinking exercise to help us answer the question: “If we were to design the grantmaking process to support grantseekers and grantees and contribute to a more just and equitable world, what would that look like?” If you are a grantmaker that has embraced the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, this workshop is for you.
Please join us for a conversation with Chris Ryer, Director of Baltimore City Department of Planning.
Maryland Philanthropy Network is collaborating with Baltimore City and surrounding county governments to gather donations of critical supplies to support our regional workers on the frontlines. If your organization or business is able to donate any of these essential items please call Baltimore City 311 or from outside of the city dial 410.396.2525.
Please join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Health Funders Affinity Group to learn about the community-based partnership programs Baltimore-area medical institutions are implementing to accomplish their population health goals.
Maryland Philanthropy Network is pleased to finally host an open house for members at our office space in Baltimore’s Hampden neighborhood! Our customized 4,000-square-foot office features a polished and comfortable conference room (twice the size as our old one), casual meeting areas, an open kitchen, and over 100 feet of gallery space! This will be a lightly structured opportunity to meet, build relationships with colleagues and MPN staff, and unwind. MPN will provide appetizers and drinks.
A message to the Maryland Philanthropy Network membership from our President and CEO Danista E. Hunte.

Are you drowning in paperwork and distracted from purpose?
How about your grantees?
Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for a peer learning exchange for funders supporting environmental and sustainability issues in Maryland! We take some time to integrate our learnings, share what we are thinking about and focusing on, and discuss our plans for the coming year. Lightly structured, these peer-to-peer exchange events are designed to integrate and learn from others in philanthropy through facilitation of the following: strategy sharing and exchange of ideas around what other funders are working on, stimulating new ways of thinking by sharing learnings and creating an environment conducive to discovery among the community of funders, and relationship building.
