The Environmental Protection Agency’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) is a $27 billion investment in climate and clean energy established by the Inflation Reduction Act. Please join the Green Funders Affinity Group to learn about the purpose and components of the GGRF. Representatives of local organizations that have applied for funding to benefit Maryland will describe each fund and their proposed strategy and share thoughts about barriers to community institutions accessing funding, and philanthropy’s role in supporting the infrastructure for equitable implementation of investments especially at the state and local levels.
On November 13th, Danista E. Hunte, President and CEO of Maryland Philanthropy Network, Linda Dworak, Director of the Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative (BWFC), and members of the BWFC attended the annoucement of the new Baltimore Workforce Hub at Carver Vocational High School in Baltimore. MPN’s BWFC will collaborate with the Baltimore Mayor’s Office of Employment Development, Baltimore City Schools, and the Baltimore DC Building Trades Council to coordinate the project.
Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Health Funders Affinity Group is pleased to host Deputy Secretary Alyssa Lord for a conversation on her efforts to work collaboratively across local, city, state, and federal public and private sectors to improve the implementation of care coordination services by establishing and expanding community behavioral health programs. Join Maryland Philanthropy Network as we discuss technology trends for the nonprofit sector with Amy Sample Ward, Executive Director of NTEN, a nonprofit capacity building organization that has been building the technology leadership and confidence of nonprofit staff for 24 years. Amy and Anne Allen, a Program Officer with the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, will talk about their experience and lessons learned from an on-going partnership between the two organizations to support nonprofit technology. In 2023, Mayor Brandon Scott, BUILD, and the Greater Baltimore Committee formed an agreement to end the crisis of vacant and abandoned properties in Baltimore City over the next 15 years. This partnership is committed to a “whole blocks” approach that will leverage an estimated $3 billion in public investment — including $300 million in private and philanthropic contributions — to bring an additional $5 billion in private investments to neighborhoods across Baltimore. We invite business and philanthropic leaders to a briefing about this strategy. The session will highlight specific areas where expertise and resources from the business and philanthropic communities can support a historic public-private partnership to eliminate vacant housing and build safe, stable neighborhoods where all city residents can thrive.
