What is the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership? An Introduction to a New Philanthropic Presence

In 2016, the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership (SBGP) was established to help distribute funding provided by the Local Impact Grants generated by video lottery terminals in a flexible, nimble, and entrepreneurial manner.

In order to successfully implement the ambitious agenda laid out in the South Baltimore Gateway Master Plan, they created the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership Strategic Plan focused on three crucial elements:

  • Environmental Sustainability, 
  • Health and Wellness, and 
  • Community Development and Revitalization.

Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Community Investment Affinity Group invites all Maryland Philanthropy Network members to hear from Brad Rogers, Executive Director of SBGP for an overview of this new philanthropic presence for south Baltimore. He will highlight one of their high priority “Transformative Initiatives” around the Middle Branch, which would environmentally restore a potential 10 miles of publicly-accessible waterfront with integrated recreational opportunities for nearby communities and the whole city.
