Member-Sponsored Briefing: Effective Youth Homelessness Prevention in Action

Member-Sponsored Briefing: Effective Youth Homelessness Prevention in Action

Thursday, August 21, 2025, 3:00 - 4:30 PM

Maryland Philanthropy Network members are invited to attend a presentation and panel presented by The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation and Point Source Youth on preventing youth homelessness through an effective, data-driven approach. The presentation will spotlight new findings from a groundbreaking 7-state initiative and announce a new pilot launching here in Baltimore.

You'll hear directly from our research partners at Johns Hopkins University, an inspiring youth leader with lived experience, and Point Source Youth, who together are advancing a model that provides direct cash assistance and targeted support to young people before they reach a crisis point.

Attendees will leave with a reframed understanding of what youth homelessness prevention and cash for housing can—and should—look like. Rather than reacting solely to crises, funders will gain tools to invest in upstream, effective strategies that support autonomy, dignity, and evidence-based approaches. Lastly, funders will learn how targeted direct financial assistance—when combined with youth-directed services and support—can effectively prevent homelessness before it begins, as demonstrated by the Johns Hopkins–supported pilot.

This briefing is sponsored by The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation.

This program is for Maryland Philanthropy Network members and invited guests only.
