Leaders of Baltimore City's four Arts and Entertainment Districts, Chad Hayes, Director of Community Planning and Revitalization at the Baltimore City Planning Department, and David D. Mitchell, Program Director for Arts and Entertainment Districts, Maryland State Arts Council will provide updates about each districts’ major projects, redesignation status, successes, and current challenges. In addition, we’ll learn about the City's coordination efforts and funding and discuss current issues, such as safety.

Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Aging Innovations 2024 Summit to celebrate Older Americans Month and express appreciation for the dedication and commitment to those working in the field of aging. This year's theme is Older Adults are Powerful Assets! which will demonstrate the impactful value older adults give daily as employees, volunteers, and leaders. The Horizon Foundation awarded more than $1 million in grants in 2017 to community programs advancing the mission to improve health and wellness for people who live or work in Howard County, Md. The grants address community needs and target the Foundation’s strategic priorities to promote healthy lifestyles and increase access to quality, affordable health care.
This is the second session of a 6-part webinar series on Demystifying Trust-Based Philanthropy focused on addressing common questions, clarifying misconceptions, and exploring ways to overcome obstacles in implementing trust-based philanthropy. In this session, we’ll unpack the difference between unrestricted funding that is deployed in a trust-based way, and what it looks like when it’s not. We’ll also share case studies from funders who have shifted from project-specific to majority unrestricted funding, as well as those who have embedded trust-based values within semi-restricted grants. Participants can expect to gain greater clarity on the philosophy behind unrestricted funding in a trust-based context, and strategies for aligning trust-based values with the way grants are structured and deployed.
