Updates from the Baltimore Integration Partnership, a project hosted by the Maryland Philanthropy Network.
Maryland Philanthropy Network is using this year’s annual meeting as an opportunity for transformative change. Our Network must recognize the responsibility to engage in truth-telling and healing in order to support positive community transformation in Maryland. Together we'll hear from local and national grantmakers on the cutting edge of restorative practices, welcome new board members, and celebrate our outgoing board members and CEO Celeste Amato.
The Board of Directors of Maryland Philanthropy Network is pleased to announce Maggie Gunther Osborn as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 12, 2021. “Through a robust and extensive search process, Maggie was the clear choice as a leader who brings a bird’s eye view of the philanthropic sector, a demonstrated commitment to racial justice, and a vision for supporting philanthropic impact across her home state of Maryland,” shared Carmel Roques, Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Board Chair, in a message to MPN members.
As our network seeks to further understand the critical shifts philanthropy is being asked to make, Maryland Philanthropy Network is continuing to use our annual meeting as an opportunity to exploring key topics to shift perspectives, cede power, and collaborate with communities to heal and achieve greater equity. Our keynote speaker, Dr. Mustafa Santiago Ali, a renowned thought-leader, strategist, policymaker, and community liaison, will help us understand climate justice as central to the pursuit of racial justice and freedom. Kondwani Fidel, Baltimore native and globally recognized poet, will once again share his thought-provoking poetry with us, recognizing that arts and creativity have an indelible role in moving people to action for lasting social change.
Maryland Philanthropy Network has joined our colleagues from the Nonprofit Infrastructure Investment Advocacy Group (NIIAG) in responding to The Build Back Better legislation expected to see Congressional action this week. Maggie Gunther
Havaca Ganguly is Executive Director of The Middendorf Foundation which provides capital and one-time grants that support six areas of grantmaking focus. When Havaca took over the one staff position in late 2019, the foundation had a chance to reflect on their practices and reset operations. In March 2022, we spoke with Havaca to learn more about their process and what they're excited about for the future.
This year Maryland Philanthropy Network is reuniting for our first in-person meeting since 2019 to celebrate our 40th Anniversary! MPN members are invited to join us for a morning of reconnection, celebration, and updates on the vibrant activities of our network. We are excited to have Susan Taylor Batten, president and chief executive officer of ABFE: A Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities, as our keynote speaker to inspire and challenge us as we continue working together for an equitable and just Maryland.
Maryland Philanthropy Network's Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative is proud to announce new funding from JPMorganChase to support career pathways in Baltimore. The $2 million philanthropic capital aims to strengthen high-quality training programs and build effective public-private partnerships, helping Baltimoreans secure well-paid jobs in the growing energy and infrastructure sectors while leveraging JPMorganChase’s growing presence in the region to convene stakeholders and drive economic growth for all.
