In Fall 2023, Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake opened the Baltimore Excel Center High School, a school designed to provide residents aged 21 and older the opportunity to receive a tuition-free high school diploma along with access to post-secondary education and careers. Two years into a five-year, $25 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, Dr. Zaitchik and his team of researchers are aiming to create Baltimore as one of the world’s most climate resilient cities.
