The purpose is to convene leaders in philanthropy who are actively supporting efforts to reduce child poverty to learn about their work and get recommendations for the state. Maryland Philanthropy Network is pleased to be a partner with the Trust-Based Philanthropy Project for this multi-part series that will explore the relationship between the two approaches, to understand why a racial equity lens is needed (the issue), what a racial equity lens is in a trust-based approach (the answer), and how to operationalize it (the implementation). This series will include comprehensive data-informed content, rich discussion and insights from sector thought leaders, as well as an opportunity to connect with a cohort of peers actively working to understand and operationalize these concepts within their grantmaking organizations.

On November 13th, Danista E. Hunte, President and CEO of Maryland Philanthropy Network, Linda Dworak, Director of the Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative (BWFC), and members of the BWFC attended the annoucement of the new Baltimore Workforce Hub at Carver Vocational High School in Baltimore. MPN’s BWFC will collaborate with the Baltimore Mayor’s Office of Employment Development, Baltimore City Schools, and the Baltimore DC Building Trades Council to coordinate the project.

The Arts Funders Affinity Group invites all members interested in arts and community investment to this continuation of conversations held in October 2018, July 2019 and April 2020. Leaders of Baltimore City's four Arts and Entertainment Districts, Chad Hayes, Director of Community Planning and Revitalization at the Baltimore City Planning Department, and David D. Mitchell, Program Director for Arts and Entertainment Districts, Maryland State Arts Council will provide updates about each districts’ major projects, redesignation status, successes, and current challenges. In addition, we’ll learn about the City's coordination efforts and funding and discuss current issues, such as safety.
