The Maryland Community Foundations Association (MCFA) connects and promotes community foundations as a form of philanthropy benefitting towns, cities and rural areas across our state. This group convenes in support of their shared missions and focus on helping individuals, families and businesses plan and carry out their charitable giving; and in building endowments to serve their regions' changing needs.
Updates from the Baltimore Integration Partnership, a project hosted by the Maryland Philanthropy Network.
Through a presentation and discussion with Stuart Clarke, Edgar Villanueva will outline his provocative analysis of the dysfunctional colonial dynamics at play in philanthropy and finance and offer a prescription for restoring balance and healing our divides.
This webinar will introduce equitable evaluation, an emerging evaluative paradigm guided by a set of core principles grounded in equity. We will explore how common approaches to evaluation can undermine equity, explain the core principles of equitable evaluation, and share resources to spur your thinking about how your organization could apply equitable evaluation to its work
In the wake of the U.S. withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, the collapse of the Afghan government, and the Taliban’s takeover, many Afghans are fleeing for their lives. While up-to-date figures are unavailable due to the intense conflict, more than 1 million Afghans remain displaced from their homes due to ongoing violence and frequent natural disasters. We are grateful for our colleagues at Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR) who have compiled a list of actions to support philanthropic response. Maryland Philanthropy Network will continue to post ways in which philanthropy may respond to all that is happening in the world and we urge foundations and individual philanthropists to look into the future of how all of this will change Maryland and what your role may be to relieve suffering and build for our future.
We value racial equity as an organizational operating principle and are committed to continued learning on issues related to race, equity, diversity and inclusion.
