Maryland Philanthropy Network is pleased to finally host an open house for members at our office space in Baltimore’s Hampden neighborhood! Our customized 4,000-square-foot office features a polished and comfortable conference room (twice the size as our old one), casual meeting areas, an open kitchen, and over 100 feet of gallery space! This will be a lightly structured opportunity to meet, build relationships with colleagues and MPN staff, and unwind. MPN will provide appetizers and drinks.

The Morehead-Cain Scholarship at UNC at Chapel Hill has a Civic Collaboration Summer for rising sophomores, and five scholars were assigned to work with Maryland Philanthropy Network and the Middendorf Foundation. This study looks to explore both the permit and grant processes from the perspectives of nonprofit organizations, foundations, and the Baltimore City Government. By interviewing various stakeholders, the scholars gained insight and understood just how complex these processes were. All sides provided their experiences, which led the scholars to develop key takeaways and recommendations to create a more efficient system.

The Funders Together to End Homelessness Baltimore at Maryland Philanthropy Network is pleased to launch its 2024-2026 Strategic Direction. FTEHB’s robust three-year plan outlines specific actions this funder network will carry out. Please join MPN Health Funders Affinity Group to learn from Dr. Yolanda Ogbolu, Dean of University of Maryland School of Nursing, about the West Baltimore Reducing Inequities in Cardiovascular and Mental Health Collaborative-Stronger Together (RICH 2.0) project. In addition to a multisector learning collaborative, interventions include a mobile health program, nurse-led clinics located in under-resourced communities, and a robust community outreach model that allows outreach workers to connect directly with clients to address the social barriers to health.

The child care and preschool system is vital to the stability of the labor force and economy, and yet the entire system is balanced on the passion of women who work in child care because they delight in children and clearly understand they are contributing to the future - but experience employment in the sector as underappreciated and unsustainable. Through this program, we will share eye-opening learnings gleaned from an innovative model that connects the voices and perspectives of Baltimore child care professionals and caregivers with systems representatives who hold positional power.
