Strong Jobs for Early Childhood Workers are Key to Child Care Quality
“If policymakers, directors, and funders actually listened to child caregivers, not just surveyed us, but truly heard us, staying in this field would feel like a powerful decision.” - Baltimore child care professional
The child care and preschool system is vital to the stability of the labor force and economy; today's working parents require accessible child care options and future workers benefit from early learning opportunities. Yet the entire system is balanced on the passion of women who work in child care because they delight in children and clearly understand they are contributing to the future - but experience employment in the sector as underappreciated and unsustainable. Through this program, we will share eye-opening learnings gleaned from an innovative model that connects the voices and perspectives of Baltimore child care professionals and caregivers with systems representatives who hold positional power. The insights can inform steps that can be taken to improve the supply of quality child care.
