Community Foundations specialize in helping individuals, families and businesses plan and carry out their charitable giving; and in building endowments to serve their regions' changing needs.

Climate Resiliency and Its Impact on Residents’ Health

Join Maryland Philanthropy Network's Health Funders Affinity Group and Green Funders Affinity Group as they host Ben Zaitchik, PhD, chair and professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Johns Hopkins University, who will give an update on the promising work of the Baltimore Social-Environmental Collaborative. Two years into a five-year, $25 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, Dr. Zaitchik and his team of researchers are aiming to create Baltimore as one of the world’s most climate resilient cities.

You will hear the “never ever do this” and the “be sure to do that”. This is a great workshop for grantseekers new to the field. The agenda includes additional information on preparing to write, stewarding a funder relationship, and presenting your budget.

60 years after Brown vs the Board of Education, American public schools are more segregated today than in 1968. In the state of Maryland, 9 out of every 10 black Maryland students and 8 out of every 10 Latino students attends a majority-minority school. 1 of every 4 black Maryland students attends a school that is 99-100% minority. Segregating poor, minority children in high poverty schools increases educational inequities.
