Updates from the Baltimore Integration Partnership, a project hosted by the Maryland Philanthropy Network.
In the last five to 10 years, it would seem as though Baltimore is finally emerging (at least economically) — from its slow, multi-decade decline.
As our network seeks to further understand the critical shifts philanthropy is being asked to make, Maryland Philanthropy Network is continuing to use our annual meeting as an opportunity to exploring key topics to shift perspectives, cede power, and collaborate with communities to heal and achieve greater equity. Our keynote speaker, Dr. Mustafa Santiago Ali, a renowned thought-leader, strategist, policymaker, and community liaison, will help us understand climate justice as central to the pursuit of racial justice and freedom. Kondwani Fidel, Baltimore native and globally recognized poet, will once again share his thought-provoking poetry with us, recognizing that arts and creativity have an indelible role in moving people to action for lasting social change.
The philanthropic sector must understand the necessity for advocacy and public policy as a core element in their grantmaking for real impact. Join Maryland Philanthropy Network and our speakers to learn about navigating advocacy in the philanthropic landscape and how foundations take on advocacy efforts as well as explore how funders support advocates that are important especially considering current events.
This year Maryland Philanthropy Network is reuniting for our first in-person meeting since 2019 to celebrate our 40th Anniversary! MPN members are invited to join us for a morning of reconnection, celebration, and updates on the vibrant activities of our network. We are excited to have Susan Taylor Batten, president and chief executive officer of ABFE: A Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities, as our keynote speaker to inspire and challenge us as we continue working together for an equitable and just Maryland.
Maryland Philanthropy Network (MPN) is focused on funders in Maryland, and we know we live in an interconnected world where our network reaches out across the globe supporting communities near and far. We have members who are grieving, who are leading and/or supporting relief efforts, and others who aren’t sure how to engage yet. For times like these, we want to take a moment to share how MPN can help you navigate this current crisis.
A message to the Maryland Philanthropy Network membership from our President and CEO Danista E. Hunte.
Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for an expanded opportunity for all MPN members to convene in our State Capitol for our annual Philanthropy Summit (formerly known as Day in Annapolis). Members will receive updates from state policy makers and sector leaders on the 2026 legislative session. Members will learn about key issues and priorities that affect Maryland communities as well as updates on the state budget changes in federal policy, and the potential impact on philanthropy.
