Maureen Flynn from Changing Our World - a consulting company dedicated to helping the private sector act as a force for public good - will moderate a discussion with Mateus Baptista, Deputy Director at Panasonic, and Michele Mehaffy, Consumer Affairs Manager at Wegmans, about how this work continues to evolve to meet community need.

Report Finds Scant Funding for Disability Rights and Social Justice — and Points the Way Forward

“Foundation Giving for Disability: Priorities and Trends”, a rigorous new study commissioned by the Disability & Philanthropy Forum, is the first study of its kind to map philanthropic giving for disability causes. The report goes beyond big-picture dollar figures to point out key imbalances within philanthropy, most notably the minuscule amount of support and action to advance social justice for people with disabilities across the spectrum of funding. 

Evidence of Racial Bias in Home Appraisals in the Baltimore Metropolitan Area

Racial bias in home appraising can harm individuals by making home purchases more expensive or refinancing unattainable, but when compounded on the community level, it can have profound impacts on minority communities’ ability to build wealth. Using newly available federal data, this report finds evidence of systemic appraisal bias that undervalues homes in predominantly Black communities in Baltimore City and the surrounding counties.
