Join Maryland Philanthropy Network for our quarterly peer-to-peer exchange for education funders! Funders will come together in October to discuss funding strategies you are using, thinking through, or exploring, and steps you are taking to evaluate your portfolio.
Join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Education Funders and Prenatal to Five Affinity Groups to learn about "mixed delivery systems" of care that connect across multiple programs, providers, and settings (including public schools and community-based organizations) that can be supported with a combination of public funds and private funds. In the coming weeks, the Commission on Innovation and Excellence in Education (aka Kirwan Commission) will release its final report and legislation will follow shortly thereafter. Join us for an Education Funders and Public Policy Committee Advocacy Action Discussion for 2019. During the discussion, we will share known updates for the Kirwan Commission and legislation as well as determine possible advocacy actions for grantmakers, both collectively or individually.

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) received a generous donation of $5 million from the Sherman Family Foundation. The gift is intended to help the BSO introduce more children and young people to symphonic music, and will support the orchestra's various outreach initiatives to this end.
