Blueprint for Maryland’s Future and Implications for Early Care and Education

Blueprint for Maryland’s Future and Implications for Early Care and Education

Tuesday, November 29, 2022, 10:00 - 11:00 AM

Join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Education Funders and Prenatal to Five Affinity Groups for a joint program on early care and education. Participants will learn about systems of care that connect across multiple programs, providers, and settings (including public schools and community-based organizations) that can be supported with a combination of public funds and private funds. This model is known as a “mixed delivery system” in the early care field.

You will hear from Laura Weeldreyer, Executive Director of Maryland Family Network, who will speak about requirements in the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future related to mixed delivery programs and examples of successful models. In addition, you will hear from Martha Holleman, Principal at Strategic Thinking for Social Change, who will share data on the number of students and families in need of access to a mixed delivery system in Baltimore. You may recognize Martha as author of the 2021 Abell Foundation report "Child Care After COVID: Equity, efficiency, and effectiveness in the financing and delivery of child care in Baltimore and Maryland."

Both speakers will share possible avenues for a system of mixed delivery in Baltimore and in the state along with potential next steps. Space will be created for dialogue between funders about steps you can take together around early care and education.

This event is for Maryland Philanthropy Network members only.
