It is difficult to overstate the importance of a fair census count.
As the District reopens schools, Maryland is also experiencing its first-ever virtual legislative session. Legislation around digital equity, childcare, and the overturn of the veto for the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future are critical for the future of Maryland’s children. Maryland Philanthropy Network is pleased to host Melissa Broome, Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs, for a conversation about City Schools’ legislative priorities for the 2021 state legislative session and the state plan around funding.
Maryland Philanthropy Network along with our peers with the Mid Atlantic Regional Partnership are excited to share this great opportunity for learning and engagement with our philanthropic peers across networks. Reimagine, a regional funding collaborative housed at the Greater Washington Community Foundation is hosting a free five-session funder learning series focused on deepening participants’ understanding of and comfort with community-led systems change work that transforms our economic system.
The University of Colorado Denver’s second phase of an organizational network study of the BIP highlights results from extensive interviews with small business, workforce, and community stakeholders. The research brief includes community perspectives on economic inclusion work as well as a range of recommendations for institutions as well as businesses and public partners to consider as they work to implement new hiring, purchasing and investment strategies.
In the last week of July 2010, torrential rains caused devastating floods in large parts of Pakistan. The floods have affected more than 20 million people (more than 10 per cent of the total population). Devastating communities throughout the country, in an area of at least 160,000 square kilometres — larger than England — the floods killed more than 1,700 people, and damaged or destroyed nearly 1.9 million homes.*
