The Horizon Foundation awarded more than $1 million in grants in 2017 to community programs advancing the mission to improve health and wellness for people who live or work in Howard County, Md. The grants address community needs and target the Foundation’s strategic priorities to promote healthy lifestyles and increase access to quality, affordable health care.
This report documents the experiences, successes and lessons learned during the Learning and Action Agenda Project, an effort to provide local grantmakers with information and strategies around issues of importance to the Casey Foundation —particularly around the Foundation’s Family Economic Success framework — and to motivate them to take action on those issues within their own communities and networks.

Maryland Philanthropy Network joined over 250 philanthropic leaders and peers, issued the following letter affirming the principles of a free, fair, and safe election season and asking fellow leaders to do the same.
In this special, family foundation trustee- and staff-only event, we’ll explore strategies family foundations can take to engage more deeply in grantmaking that builds toward long-term social change. The webinar will draw from case studies highlighted in NCRP’s new Families Funding Change report, as well as the real life experiences of family members and trustees who have made the transition toward social justice giving.
Maryland is taking a meaningful step toward expanding economic opportunity for children and families.
