Conversation with the Governor’s Office on SNAP Crisis and Beyond
Maryland Governor Wes Moore made a statement last Friday about the impact of the government shutdown on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The Governor declared a State of Emergency yesterday, and issued an executive order that will provide $10 million in emergency funding to fight food insecurity.
The Governor’s Office will meet with Maryland Philanthropy Network to learn from the philanthropic community about what they are seeing and to explore what action is being taken to help with food access in this moment. In addition to the learning exchange around SNAP, we will explore building forward with the Governor’s Office and philanthropy together to think about how to stay connected and prepare for what may be the next crisis given unexpected challenges resulting from changes in federal policy.
This meeting is for Maryland Philanthropy Network members, our regional funder partners, and invited guests only.
If you are a funder in the region and not currently a member of Maryland Philanthropy Network, please contact Shanetta Martin for registration assistance.
