The Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative is working with Byte Back, Pass IT On, and the Baltimore Digital Equity Coalition to identify a trainer(s) who will develop and facilitate a trauma-informed care training for up to 15 workforce development nonprofit professionals. The goal of the training will be to increase the capacity of direct service agencies by applying trauma-specific strategies to their normal service deliveries, improving the services provided to clients who have experienced trauma, and advance digital equity.

Join Maryland Philanthropy Network and the Trust-Based Philanthropy Project for the last webinar in this 6-part series focused on addressing common questions, clarifying misconceptions, and exploring ways to overcome obstacles in implementing trust-based philanthropy. This session will explore the connection and distinction between the two, and why both should be prioritized for trust-based funders. Participants will gain a deeper knowledge on why and how to explicitly prioritize racial equity in your trust-based practices and values.

Supporting nonprofit organizational health by way of facilitating stronger partnerships between philanthropy and nonprofits is one of three priority actions that resulted from Maryland Philanthropy Network member conversations over the past year in our State of the Sector Workgroup. MPN members are invited to build on these conversations by joining this special program with Associated Black Charities and Baltimore area Black-focused nonprofit organizations around positive relationships in support of the organizational health of nonprofit organizations.

The floods have affected more than 20 million people (more than 10 per cent of the total population). Devastating communities throughout the country, in an area of at least 160,000 square kilometres — larger than England — the floods killed more than 1,700 people, and damaged or destroyed nearly 1.9 million homes.*

Community Health Workers, Home Health Aides, Personal Care Attendants, and Nursing Assistants are among the direct care workers on the front lines of the Pandemic. COVID-19 spotlighted both an incentive towards accelerating the delivery of care directly in communities and the inequities experienced by direct care and community health workers. During this program, we will have a discussion with David Rodwin of the Public Justice Center and the Maryland Regional Direct Services Collaborative, Dr. Chidinma Ibe, of the Johns Hopkins Schools of Medicine and Public Health. We will learn from our speakers how we can support, advocate, and sustain community health workers and direct home care programs to meet the increasing need to change the delivery of healthcare from institution-based to the community.
