The Baltimore Digital Equity Coalition’s 2021 Annual Report highlights the progress they made in 2021. Some of that progress is easy to see, such as the number of issues resolved from callers to the BDEC Tech Support Hotline — Baltimore’s first-ever tech support hotline. Their progress also serves as a reminder of what is still left to do.
BDEC was launched in 2020 amidst the Covid-19 pandemic with the resolve to close the digital divide in Baltimore City. That remains their focus today, and we will work collaboratively to do so through four main goals:
- Access to Devices;
- Greater Internet Connectivity;
- Digital Skills Training and Technical Support; and
- Advocacy.

Kelly Medinger, our most trusted and valued Executive Director of the Knott Foundation for the last decade, has shared her intentions to resign from her post, effective December 31, 2022. Her unwavering dedication to our mission, her institutional knowledge of our Foundation, her keen understanding of family dynamics, and her strong team-building with our executive staff have all contributed greatly towards the growth, focus, and stability of our Catholic family foundation. The Knott Foundation's Board of Trustees is seeking a new Executive Director, who will succeed our current Executive Director upon her departure at the end of 2022.

Over the course of a year, Philanthropy New York's Leadership Transitions Funders Group has engaged a group of NYC-based funders in building a community of practice. The goal has been to strengthen funder practices around supporting nonprofits going through leadership transitions and to more broadly address transition patterns or moments as they arise within the movements/fields we support.
What we’ve learned about funder behavior and funder practices transcends the space of supporting leadership transitions. In other words, adopting holistic funding practices and supporting organizational capacity strengthens the nonprofit sector, period.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) is a $27 billion investment in climate and clean energy established by the Inflation Reduction Act. Please join the Green Funders Affinity Group to learn about the purpose and components of the GGRF. On November 13th, Danista E. Hunte, President and CEO of Maryland Philanthropy Network, Linda Dworak, Director of the Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative (BWFC), and members of the BWFC attended the annoucement of the new Baltimore Workforce Hub at Carver Vocational High School in Baltimore.
