60 years after Brown vs the Board of Education, American public schools are more segregated today than in 1968. In the state of Maryland, 9 out of every 10 black Maryland students and 8 out of every 10 Latino students attends a majority-minority school. 1 of every 4 black Maryland students attends a school that is 99-100% minority. Segregating poor, minority children in high poverty schools increases educational inequities.

Maryland Philanthropy Network is requesting proposals from vendors to execute the design phase of a comprehensive Drupal website rebuild. MPN's website is a multi-purpose digital hub for numerous stakeholders including grantmaking organizations and philanthropic leaders, policymakers, nonprofit organizations, and other community members and interested users. The Baltimore Workforce Funders Collaborative is a group of private and public funders established to support the alignment and pooling of resources around common workforce development goals and strategies. Many of us working to identify good strategies and support effective programs understand the great importance of involving communities in informing and implementing our work.
On February 27, 2010 an 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck Chile early Saturday morning, killing more than 700 people and leaving 2 million people displaced. The earthquake also toppled buildings, snapped power lines, damaged roads and bridges, and cut off communications. The most significant damage appears to be in and around Concepción, the country's second largest city.
