As the COVID-19 outbreak evolves, we are convening members, grantees, and government sector partners to stay connected, informed, and to support collaborative action. During this Exchange, we are focusing on public policy priorities. We’ll hear from Henry Bogdan about Maryland Nonprofits’ policy priorities, Greater Baltimore Committee's Donald Fry about their policy priorities and Maryland Philanthropy Network’s Public Policy Committee co-chair Kevin McHugh about MPN’s priorities. We invite any of you who would like to share your policy priorities to do so as well.
So far this year we've heard from a number of public health experts and local leaders at the forefront of the COVID-19 vaccine efforts across the state as well as funders who have taken up advocacy efforts to support this huge undertaking during these bi-weekly calls. Join Maryland Philanthropy Network’s evolving Emergent Philanthropy Roundtable, to discuss Darren Walker’s book, From Generosity to Justice: A New Gospel of Wealth. This peer discussion will focus on the first two chapters, which include pages 1 - 48.
All grantmakers are invited to participate in this four-part professional development series taught by our region's experienced practitioners, presented by Maryland Philanthropy Network. Session Two will cover funding recommendations and due diligence and legal and ethical issues. Participants will learn the art of grantmaking, balancing organizational values and goals, trustees’ interests, applicant relationships, and best practices in due diligence to better review and recommend grant proposals. Participants will also be introduced to key legal and ethical issues in grantmaking through scenarios and MPN’s Guiding Principles.
